Within the framework of openCost, a new topic-specific online forum was initiated, which deals with the implementation of openCost in DSpace repositories. The kick-off was a thematic table at this year’s german DSpace user group meeting, at which Alexander Wagner (DESY, openCost) and Simon Eiberger (University of Ulm) provided initial insights into the practical implementation of openCost in DSpace 7 based on the example of the University of Ulm.

The aim of the forum is to discuss concrete ways of implementing openCost in DSpace repositories together with interested institutions. In addition, the development of an institution-internal metadata schema for cost recording will also be discussed, which can serve as a blueprint for local implementations.

The forum will take place online at regular intervals. It is aimed at all institutions that work with DSpace repositories and are interested in the technical implementation of openCost.

To accompany the forum, an opencost.dspace mailing list has been set up. It serves as a space for discussions, practical questions and joint approaches to solutions.

Interested parties are cordially invited to join the mailing list and participate in future online forums. Upcoming online events will be announced via the list.
